Port Royal Sound Foundation Maritime Center
No matter where you travel in Beaufort County and the surrounding area, you’ll likely cross the waters of Port Royal Sound. These waters are some of the most pristine in the country, and here at the Port Royal Sound Foundation, we want to keep them that way.
Current exhibits in the Main Hall include:
- 3000-Gallon Aquarium
- Ceiling Predator Diorama
- History Wall
- Megalodon Jaw
- Sharks of Port Royal Sound
- Story of Snowball, the Albino Dolphin
- Underwater Sounds exhibit
- What Makes our Sound Unique Exhibit
In addition, every two to three months, rotating exhibits highlight special traits of the Port Royal Sound through art, informational panels and literature, and various displays.
The Maritime Center is open year around Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free. Tours are self-guided with volunteer docents available to answer questions and assist as needed. Some programs and activities do have fees associated with them.
